Today’s numbers are much more alarming!
RCR’s Shelly Petrik talks about the Pandemic, drinking, and what drives behavior
Just as the First Responders have had to work together in protecting us in the initial ravages of the Covid-19 Pandemic, so too, Recovery CR stands ready to work in tandem with other local providers to meet the needs of our Communities during, and after, the Covid-19 fallout.
Mental health issues related to the Covid Pandemic (and the subsequent social isolation, unemployment, working from home, schools closed/open only part-time, homeschooling, mask-wearing, social-distancing, continued hygienic procedures and the Pandemic fear in-general) is especially hard for people with Mental Health or Addiction issues. And statistics have not yet been released regarding the horrific child, spousal and parental abuse that has been occurring because of Covid-19.
RCR provides Co-occurring Behavioral Health and Addiction treatment services for women struggling with addiction or mental health issues. Our Facility is staffed by accredited professionals treating addiction and behavioral issues for those needing recovery and healing.
Prior to Covid-19: 56% of people who had bipolar disorder had substance use disorder —– 64% of people who used drugs met the criteria for a mental health diagnosis —– There is a 10-25 year shorter lifespan for people with serious mental illness.
Seeking help for chemical dependency is a big step. Recovery CR is a co-occurring residential chemical dependency treatment facility offering a peaceful environment on the road to recovery. DO I HAVE AN ADDICTION PROBLEM?
When does our drinking, using or obsessive behavior cross the line? Sure signs of an addiction problem include either a sense of guilt about using, irritability towards people or situations that question our using, inability to cut down, or a sense of needing to use to function.
Ask yourself the following questions and then consider how much more you stand to lose before you get treatment:
- Have you ever taken pain meds or consumed alcohol to feel emotional relief from pain?
- Have you taken a medication or consumed alcohol to get high?
- Has a loved one or friend expressed concern about you and your pain medication/alcohol consumption?
- Are you able to think about living your life without opioids or alcohol?
- Do you feel that you deserve to take pain meds or drink alcohol?
- In what other ways have prescription painkillers or alcohol complicated your life?
- Have you ever used heroin or marijuana because in lieu of pain pills or alcohol?
